Who doesn't know Dannemois or Claude François? It is indeed in this village that in 1964 the famous singer made one of the mills of the village his secondary residence, a building linked to a rich and ancient historical heritage, starting with prehistory with the mesolithic furniture discovered in the area, the church of Saint-Mammès built in the 11th century, the manor of the Louvetière and its mills of the 16th century, etc. It is also in this village that Henri IV stayed when he joined his mistress Catherine Henriette de Balzac d'Entragues who lived in Malesherbes. In the 19th century, sandstone quarries were exploited here, and the first mill was restored.
