Rives-en-Seine is a charming new commune grouping together three pearls of the Parc naturel régional des boucles de la Seine: Caudebec-en-Caux, Saint-Wandrille-Rançon and Villequier. The largest of the three, Caudebec, which etymologically means "cold stream", is at the heart of this great ensemble. Numerous reminders of its historical importance remain: medieval remains in some of its streets, the flamboyant Gothic church and timber-framed houses from the 17th and 18thcenturies . Once a vantage point for watching the tidal bore, the town's quays, now redeveloped, and the restored Victor Hugo Museum are well worth a visit.
