Villainville has the discreet charm of an elegant commune that takes good care of itself, and where you can feel a spirit that you'd love to share. Like its neighbors Beaurepaire and Pierrefiques, the little town has a strong English history. King Richard II gave his lands to Fécamp Abbey, which built the church of Saint-Jacques. We learn with amusement that the peasants of Villainville were better off than those of Pierrefiques: the duke of Pierrefiques had a dovecote, so the birds attacked his seedlings and crops, while the lord of Villainville had none, so his peasants' work was spared.
