The forest of Roumare and the Seine river shaped the identity of the village early on. Welcoming lumberjacks, sailors and fishermen, Val-de-la-Haye was at one time distinguished in the shipbuilding industry. Nowadays, the port developments of Rouen and the industrial proximity of Grand-Couronne modify the landscape but Val-de-la-Haye remains a flowery village, which once inspired the poet Eustache Bérat. To see: the Napoleon column, the old commandery of Sainte-Vaubourg, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church. And don't miss the animal park of Roumare, where every year 400 000 visitors come to see the forest fauna present.
