Rouen, capital of Normandy and the Seine-Maritime département, opens its doors and its heart to you. the "city of a hundred steeples", so dear to Victor Hugo, has preserved an exceptional heritage, inviting you to stroll through its pedestrian-only historic center. As you stroll through the lively streets, you'll discover half-timbered houses and architectural treasures that defy the centuries: Gothic marvels such as Notre-Dame Cathedral, Saint-Ouen Abbey, Saint-Maclou Church and the Palais de Justice; pure Renaissance gems such as the Gros-Horloge, Saint-Maclou Aitre and Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde; or the majestic sobriety of classical townhouses. As you stroll through its streets, museums and monuments, you'll meet its famous characters: Richard the Lionheart, Joan of Arc, Pierre Corneille and Gustave Flaubert. If you climb up to the panorama of Côte Sainte-Catherine, you'll admire the city nestled around its river, surrounded by lush green hills. As you walk along the Robec, mills and industrial heritage will tell you all about the long textile past of this city whose symbol is the sheep. Another special feature of Rouen is its large seaport, one of the busiest in Europe, linking Le Havre to Paris along the meandering Seine. Festive events, film festivals and major sporting events (field hockey, basketball and rugby are just some of the highlights) punctuate the life of a city where the art of living is not an empty word.

What to visit Rouen?

When to go to Rouen?

When to go to Rouen ? Good question! If we rely on the weather alone, we should avoid the months of November to February. But if you don't mind, Rouen can be visited all year round. It is a favorite destination for art, history and architecture lovers, but also for music, live shows and sports enthusiasts. Finally, if the year is right (2019 will be), don't miss the famous Armada, created in 1989, which brings a flood of concerts and entertainment. The Armada is a great concentration of sailing ships that attracts millions of spectators to the quays of Rouen.
