Church in Rouen with a magnificent example of Gothic architecture and an organ used in a concert today
The abbey church was built between the 14th and 16th centuries. Its proportions are imposing: 137 m long and 26 m wide. The fifth church to be built on the same site, it was the work of Abbé Jean Roussel, who began construction in 1318, a project that would last three centuries! It’s a magnificent example of Gothic architecture, but its masterpiece is inside: the organ built by the great Cavaillé-Coll in 1890 is still in use today, notably for concerts. Restoration work is scheduled for completion in 2024.

A mon avis, la plus belle église de la ville. Un example magnifique d'art gothique, plein de lumière par ses beaux vitraux, de belles dimmensions aussi, et alliant armonie et sobrété dans sa décoration. L'intérieur, ample et lumineux, surprend le visiteur car l'abbaye est désaffectée, ce qui permet d'apprécier encore mieux sa beauté. Des expositions temporaires souvent à l'intérieur.

Beautiful building adjacent to the town hall. It's a shame the abbey-church is not fully renovated to enhance it.
