It was Marie de Medici who laid the first stone of this architectural treasure in 1615. At the end of the 19th century, it was saved from destruction and classified as a historical monument. Bombed in 1942, its restoration took several decades, and the first work on an auditorium will begin in 2014. Today under the responsibility of the Rouen Opera, the venue offers a very beautiful and eclectic artistic program of songs, recitals, chamber and symphonic music concerts, world music...

The Opéra de Rouen is the city's cultural institution, with two performance halls: the Théâtre des Arts and the Chapelle Corneille. Every year, 100,000 spectators flock here to enjoy top-quality operas, concerts and dance performances. All audiences are catered for, with performances for children and the visually and hearing impaired. We love the €5 ticket for under 28s and those on minimum social benefits. On the left bank, the former port hangar transformed into a concert hall is easily identifiable by its two yellow cranes. Le 106 is Rouen's major contemporary music venue. Its programming of nationally and internationally renowned artists has made it a must-see venue. In addition to its 1,200-capacity auditorium, Le 106 has a club room, rehearsal and recording rooms, a design studio, exhibition and conference spaces. Don't miss the Rush festival in June.

If you like to see a variety of shows, some crazy, some traditional, then the Almendra should please you! This small venue, located between Boulevard de Verdun and Vallon Suisse, can accommodate up to 50 seated spectators. You will discover a particularly eclectic programme, ranging from improvisation to classical performances, with a real proximity between the audience and the actors. It is the ideal place to discover the living arts such as cabaret, comedy shows, dance or theatre. The place is popular.

Located on the left bank, this unique cabaret in town offers music-hall shows mixing dance, singing, comedy, burlesque, frills, transformation and humour, all orchestrated by a Master Loyal. These festive and good-natured revues can be enjoyed over a "Plume" or "Prestige" menu at lunch or dinner, with dishes as appetizing as each other on the menu. The BM Company that performs here caters to all audiences with plenty of glitter and feathers. L'Étoile also offers a Sunday tea dance and a nightclub.

To have a good time and laugh out loud, nothing beats an evening at the Théâtre à l'Ouest, Rouen's stage dedicated to comedy. This 180-seat venue, created by director Loïc Bonnet and presenter Bruno Roblès, now gives pride of place to comedians of all stripes with one-man and one-woman shows, stand-up comedy, improvisation shows... It's an opportunity to discover new talents in comedy and to meet up with well-known comedians. Moreover, the godfather of the theatre is none other than Franck Dubosc, a native of Petit-Quevilly

A true Rouen institution, the Théâtre des Deux Rives is also the headquarters of the CDN, asserts the living arts as a fundamental value of democracy and proves it with the diversity of shows offered for all audiences and, above all, with prices accessible to all. The idea? To bring people together, to be moved, to laugh, to cry together. Each season, the venue hosts contemporary foreign, French and Norman creations.
