At a short distance from Dieppe, Offranville would have been "given" by King Dagobert to the monks of the Francilian abbey of Saint-Denis, at the same time as 26 other villages: the first written record mentioning the town dates back to 750. In the 19th century, the town took off with the opening of a railway line. The two wars of the following century will weaken it, in particular because of the famous V1, fired in 1943 by the German army, whose precision was very relative. The personality who left his mark on the town is the painter Jacques-Emile Blanche: his works bequeathed to the town can be seen today in the museum that bears his name
