The île aux Oiseaux, have you ever heard about it? Well, not only in the song of Pascal Obispo! Forgive the humour... No, L'Île aux Oiseaux, it is a must in the region. This strip of land with enchanting name stands in the centre of the Bay. The island is subject to the rhythm of the tides and can, at times, make 16 km in circumference or only 5 km. Old bench or high dune fixed on its base? Mystery... It owes its name to the 300 bird species that live or pass there during their migration. Find the Eurasian Curlews, the black moorhens teals or the egrets... Just as famous as birds, the tchanqué cabins stand on their stilts, defying the elements. They are full of history and anecdotes; maybe you will find talkative locals who will tell you about them. Did you know that the island was a place of pasture for cows and horses? You will probably succumb to the desire to approach it; boats will take you to visit this island with multiple curiosities. You can also get close to it by paddle, a rather original way to discover a fragile environment.
