With a surface area of 26,000 hectares, La Teste-de-Buch is one of the largest communes in France. It boasts the emblematic heritage of the Arcachon basin: the Dune du Pilat (Europe's highest dune), the Ile aux Oiseaux and its famous cabanes tchanquées, the Banc d'Arguin, the Lac de Cazaux (France's second largest freshwater lake) and an immense forest of maritime pines, oaks, acacias and arbutus. There's something for everyone, from the reassuring waters of Lac de Cazaux to the long ocean beaches of Pyla-sur-Mer for surfing, or exploring the maritime and forest environment on foot or by bike.
