It is the oldest Town Hall in France, and therefore one of the oldest civil buildings. Also known as the Old Grain Market, it is said to have been built at the request of Richard the Lionheart, Duke of Aquitaine before becoming King of England, between the 12th and 13th centuries. Over the centuries, the building has undergone numerous alterations such as the construction of Renaissance-style openings and the addition of a flamboyant style balcony on the first floor, where the meetings of the Jurade were held until the Revolution. Today, the room can accommodate exhibitions.
