Petit Futé's opinion on TWIN ABBEY
"The most beautiful ruin in France" is one of the oldest and most important Benedictine monasteries in Normandy. Impressive by its size, its construction began in 654 with Saint Philibert. Its influence was felt throughout the region until it was destroyed by the Vikings in 841. The monks returned when the Dukes of Normandy had the abbeys rebuilt. Finally, the Revolution reduced it to a stone quarry. Stroll in the park through the ruins, and enjoy the temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.
