Harfleur, Honfleur... The resemblance of the names is not a coincidence, and reminds us of the rich maritime past of the two cities: they designate the "upper port" for the first and the "lower port" for the second. While it controlled the Seine and competed with Rouen, Harfleur sank from the 13th century onwards, giving way to Le Havre. Today, with its pedestrian streets, its traditional houses and its large park, Harfleur offers a quality living environment and an interesting built heritage. The sinuosity of the Lézarde, the river that flows in its heart, gives the town a very picturesque touch.
