In the 11th century were Gonneville and Ecultot, two distinct municipalities, united in one in the 19th century. The Mallet de Graville were the lords in the 13th century: they gave their name to the village. A castle then existed there and in the 17th century, Louis XIII authorized a market in Gonneville. This is what will make the commune's fortune and reputation. With the castle destroyed, an inn was built in its place, the hostelry of the Old Flats, at one end of the floor, the market place typical of the large urban centres of Cauchois. Halls and hallways were built there in the 19th century. Today they have been converted and are used for shops and public services. The church of Saint-Pierre is in the image of the town with a somewhat special style, dimensions that attract the eye.
