Upstream from Montivilliers, on the river La Lézarde, the town of Epouville has existed since the 11th century. Its name refers to "espoll", a Scandinavian name inherited from the Viking installation, following Rollon. There are still Norman flint mansions built by local lords including the d'Epouville family and the du Gray family. The small church of Saint-Denis has harmonious dimensions that it owes to its Romanesque designers, which subsequent alterations have not altered, it is located on rue de la Motte féodale. The modern bas-relief dedicated to the dead of the Great War, although degraded, stuck to one of the walls of the church, is a magnificent Art Nouveau achievement: Christ shoulders a hair terrified by what he experienced on the battlefield. For a long time, the Epouville valley was home to factories and factories that have long since disappeared and left their mark. The Lizard follows its course there, closely monitored because floods are not uncommon. It can be reached by train, with the LER of the LIA network. The station dating back to 1896 is one of his happy survivors, which makes it possible to work in Le Havre and live a little further away from the big city. Hikers can start the Circuit des Crêtes (13.6 km, which can be completed in 3h30).
