Opposite Libourne, on the other side of the Dordogne, don't hesitate to stop in Génissac to visit the renowned vineyards of Château Penin, just a stone's throw from the commune's original hamlet, built around the small port on the Dordogne. Further afield, in the town center, visit the church of Saint-Martin, home to a rare altarpiece from England, testimony to the many trades - particularly in wine - with Great Britain in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Château de Génissac was built on the orders of King Edward III of England in the 14th century, when the English Crown still held sway over the region.
