6 km from Dieppe, on the edge of the Pays de Bray, Arques-la-Bataille was first mentioned in 750 in the form of Arcas, the name Arques referring to the river. The town nestles on a chalk plateau overlooking three rivers, each forming a valley to join the Arques: the valley of the Eaulne, the valley of the Béthune and the Varenne. The site is rich in an interesting heritage and a dynamic cultural life, notably thanks to the Bach Academy whose concerts in the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption attract many people. The commune is also a stop on the Avenue Verte, the cycle route linking Paris to London
