The gateway to Normandy, between Paris and Rouen, Vernon is a lively, flower-filled town (three flowers) of around 25,000 inhabitants, with a rich historical heritage: Notre-Dame collegiate church, Tour des Archives, Château des Tourelles, Château de Bizy, Musée Alphonse-Georges Poulain, numerous streets and squares with half-timbered houses, gardens... Founded in the 9th century, the town was one of Normandy's main strongholds throughout the Middle Ages, and one of the crossing points of the Seine. You can also admire the 16th-century Vieux Moulin (Old Mill) on a former 12th-century medieval bridge, destroyed during the Second World War.
