In the heart of the Seine valley, 11 kilometers from Vernon, the village of Port-Mort is a peaceful and green stopover. Interpretations concerning the name of the town are diverse and several hypotheses have been put forward by historians. None of them could be verified with certainty. Not to be missed: the "Gargantua gravel", a menhir, located at the entrance of the village, and the regulation dam called "Eiffel dam". See also the remains of the new castle, built in 1198 by Richard the Lionheart, as well as the tomb of Saint Ethbin, dating from 1870.
