The town of Les Andelys is famous for its proud Château-Gaillard, one of Normandy's most famous medieval fortresses. This strategic site was often contested by English and French armies. On the banks of the Seine, between two hillsides, it is divided into two parts: Grand and Petit Andely. Its monuments and magnificent landscapes are well worth a visit. On the heights, discover the ruins of Château-Gaillard, once owned by Richard the Lionheart and Philippe Auguste, among others.
