7 kilometers from Évreux on the road to Paris, Vieil-Évreux lives up to its name. Archaeological research has uncovered flints carved by Neanderthal man, making it the oldest occupied town in the region. While Gisacum, a Gallo-Roman site, is undoubtedly Vieil-Évreux's most famous landmark, a visit to the church of Saint-Aubin and the Château de Cracouville, surrounded by a magnificent park, is also not to be missed. Between natural and historical sites, Vieil-Évreux never ceases to attract visitors in search of a green setting and an open book on Norman history.
