Giverny is a small village famous for the painter Claude Monet, who lived here from 1883 until his death in 1926, and was inspired by its breathtaking surroundings to paint his most beautiful canvases. Situated on a hillside just a stone's throw from the Seine, the village offers beautiful walks in the hills and along the main street, with its mix of hotels, restaurants, fine homes, stores, artists' studios, Musée des Impressionnismes and Fondation Claude Monet. The village, which attracts many foreign tourists, is the second most visited tourist site in Normandy after Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey!
