Situated between the Seine and Eure rivers, Gaillon, owned by the Archbishops of Rouen, is famous for its superb Renaissance château, which reopened to the public in 2011 after many years of closure. It dominates the town center, and is a perfect example of the architectural transition from flamboyant Gothic to Renaissance style. Nearby, you'll have the opportunity to visit the church of Saint-Ouen, with its beautifully carved half-timbered facades. Gaillon, with its rich history, has become a bustling, authentic Normandy town, well placed between the Vernon-Rouen highway and the Seine valley.
