Between Saint-André-de-Cubzac and Libourne, the village of Cadillac-en-Fronsadais dominates the right bank of the Dordogne. The village, which has been home to many Gallo-Roman villas, takes its name from a noble family "Catulliacus". Until 1926 the commune was called Cadillac-sur-Dordogne. The church that was built there in the 2nd century was replaced by a new one in 1887. Cadillac is notably home to two castles, that of Branda and that of Cadillac. A former fortress restored in the 18th century, the castle of Cadillac is well worth a look.
