There are vestiges that the Rotalier area was inhabited in antiquity. This is hardly surprising since the town is on the Roman track that connects Lyon to Besançon. On the slopes, wine activity has, for some years, been a new vitality. So much better because the vine is like the south-Revermont limestone ground, in which, not far from there, the remote of Gizia was excavated.
