Paul-Émile Victor is a renowned explorer from the Jura. Its numerous missions in the clusters have helped to advance knowledge of distant lands and their civilizations. He passed away twenty-five years ago. To mark this anniversary, the Espace des Mondes Polaires has produced a beautiful exhibition using one of his books as a medium, the very one he wrote in 1947. Its title "Apoutsiak, little snowflake", illustrated by the author himself. This exhibition focuses on two little-known aspects of this great man: as a draughtsman, with this innate gift, he always favoured drawing over photography, but also as a true ethnologist who, with his work, advanced this science. The exhibition revolves around this book, and presents objects, texts, illustrations, videos, children's space, all of which highlight ethnology and Inuit culture. This beautiful exhibition offers a documented insight into what life was like for Eskimos in the 1930s.
