With 11 inhabitants, Mérona is the smallest commune in the Jura and the least densely populated population (3,7 inhabitants/km 2): four houses, a farm and a castle built at the location of the old castle destroyed by Louis XI. Some parties, like the pigeon house, were nevertheless retained. At the end of the th century, the family of Mérona built towers in Renaissance style. The castle does not visit but it can be seen from the outside, with its English park and its driveway of large trees. A magnificent site overlooking the small valley of Plaisia. No electric wire or telephone gâche the landscape, as they are buried. An advantage that was exploited for the filming of the Red and Black film of Jean-Daniel Verhaeghe in 1998.
