The best grocery stores Bordeaux

Dried fruits, dried fruits, chocolates, nougats, loukoums... Like the confectioners of yesteryear, the delicacies are presented in pretty candy boxes and glass jars. At Hamdi et Rama, sweets are a dime a dozen... We appreciate the dried fruits, freshly roasted on the spot, without fat, nor additive, nor conservative. On the sweet side, our preference is for the crunchy pecans coated with truffle-like chocolate. On the savoury side, try the smoked almonds, which go wonderfully well with a beer for the aperitif.

The smell is inimitable, and perceptible from the moment you enter this store selling cured meats and specialties from the Basque region. It's hard to choose between the various hams, sausages and chorizos, or between the prepared dishes: veal axoa, cassoulet, chipirons, salmis de palombe, poulet basquaise, piperade, confit, magret... Pair with a good artisan cheese, Irouléguy wine, manzana verde or patxaran beer. For sweetness, succumb to the divine jams and jellies or the excellent Aldudes butter.

Mr Henin does not do things like everyone else! Beside the Gabriel & Albert restaurant, near Saint-Michel, the grocery store bears the name of his cousin (Panpi) and his cousin (Mirentxu). Inside, full of quality handicraft products such as Basque linen On Tiss but also to drink (coloured drinks with original tastes such as green bananas or rosé grapefruit, Barbapapa syrups, nice selection of wines) and to eat (foie gras, pâtés, Pata Negra ham, peppers and Produits products). Everything is beautifully presented in antique wooden furniture. A shop where the products are as beautiful as good.

Le Comptoir Bordelais is an essential stop for tourists and gift seekers. In this charming grocery store, which looks like an old-fashioned shop, you will find a wide range of spirits, local products and gourmet souvenirs! In addition to the traditional cannelés, you will find sweets, wine, liqueurs of all kinds, various aperitifs including Lillet, biscuits, foie gras, cassoulet, condiments, lentil sausages... Everything is always very well presented and very good.

Restaurant Zéphirine offers on-site dining and takeaway, but does not offer a delivery service. To get to the restaurant, you can walk from Place Gambetta down Rue Judaïque, or take bus lines 2, 3, 4, 12 and 15 from Place Gambetta, or lines 1 and 16 from Gambetta-Meriadeck. Parking lots are also available nearby, such as Parking Gambetta and Parking Clémenceau.

L'Echoppe de la Lune is both a gourmet and historical grocery store. Anna Pedelaborde's idea is to tell the story of Bordeaux from the ^18th century to the present day, through 120 products made exclusively in Gironde. Each product has its own explanatory sign! More than twenty brands, some of them a little forgotten, are on offer in the boutique. The clientele is mainly local, but tourists appreciate this shop for its originality, Anna's kindness and the quality of the gourmet discoveries.
