Are you an expert in oenology, but still want to perfect your skills? You don't know anything about wine, but you'd like to understand the terroirs and appellations? Become a student for a few hours at the CIVB, Bordeaux's wine school. Right in the historic heart of the city, on the magnificent premises of the Comité Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bordeaux, you'll find a wide range of workshops. No fuss, no muss: here, you don't have to be afraid to say "I don't know". The fun and educational courses teach you the basics of wine, the basics of the terroir and the different appellations around Bordeaux, but also how to hold your glass, blind tastings, how to see the wine's "legs" when you turn the beverage in your hands, how to smell it, and so on. Day courses, evening courses, technical courses, practical courses, summer courses... take your pick! The locals love these lessons, and nowadays they're even given as gifts. Foreigners, too, take advantage of the packages on offer. And many students want to make the most of their stay in the region to go on to play the pros in their own countries! At the end of the course, you'll receive a diploma attesting to your skills! Courses forbidden to minors. In summer, the school offers 2-hour introductory courses at low prices, every day.
