Located on the Leyre delta, Biganos is part of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park. Numerous waterways run through the town, including the Leyre, Leyrote, Lacanau and Ponteils rivers. The area's rich heritage is reflected in its two harbours (the Port de Biganos, in a protected area, and the Port des Tuiles, protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral), as well as the island of Malprat and the archaeological site located between the Leyre and Eyga rivers, witness to a past steeped in history.
