The village of Geispolsheim was mentioned as early as 871, in a document mentioning lands belonging to the Bishop of Strasbourg. To the south of the village, in the Bruch de l'Andlau forest, stands the 14th-century chapel of Hattisheim, dedicated to Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs: the last witness to a vanished village that is now a place of pilgrimage. The village was particularly prosperous in the last century: you can still admire the magnificent Alsatian houses all along the main road. It's a village that combines tradition, folk festivals and urban and cultural dynamism, with Jam sessions in particular.
