Arsac is a typical small town in the heart of the Médoc. It borders the communes of Avensan, Cantenac, Labarde, Macau and Pian-Médoc. The porch of its church is classified as a historical monument, because of its Romanesque construction, it testifies to the existence of a parish in the 12th century. Etienne de la Boétie, poet and friend of Michel de Montaigne, stayed in the small town and even wrote a poem soberly entitled "Arsac". Arsac had the largest vineyard in the region before the phylloxera destroyed everything in the 19th century. The Arsac vineyard is part of the two prestigious appellations, Margaux and Haut-Médoc, quality wines.
