Arès had 5 mills in the 19th century. Today, the remains of one of them can be seen opposite the Georges-Dartiguelongue esplanade. Its crenellated round tower seems to watch over the seaside resort. The town's pier, dating from the 18th century, is the oldest in the basin. On the oyster-farming port side, it's very pleasant to sit down in one of the little wooden huts colored blue, yellow and green to enjoy oysters, shrimps, periwinkles and more. But one of the most precious assets of the town of Arès is undoubtedly its nature. Fauna and flora thrive in the salt meadows reserve and on the Quinconces site.
