An aquarium offering a fun and educational way to discover the region's underwater flora and fauna.

Le Musée Aquarium, created in 1867, is part of the Arcachon Institute of Marine Biology, a research and teaching establishment for the marine environment. And this aquarium is quite simply the oldest in France, and was the first observatory of marine life. Many species of the fauna and flora of the region's underwater world are presented in a playful and didactic form with simple and accessible explanations. We like to walk among the turtles, dogfishes, sea breams, anemones, starfish... The most curious will be able to visit the specialized rooms presenting the archaeology, the history of the region and, of course, oyster farming.

Opening time and information on THE AQUARIUM MUSEUM

Closed from November 3rd to February 14th. Open every day from mid-February to mid-March from 1.45pm to 6pm, from mid-March to end of June and September from 9.45am to 12.15pm and from 1pm .45 at 6.30pm, in July and August from 9.45am to 12.15pm and from 1.45pm to 7pm, in October and November from 9.45am to 12.15pm and from 1.45pm to 6pm. Open all Saturday all year from 2pm to 6pm. Adult: €5.50. Child (from 4 to 10 years old): €3.50. Group (15 people): €4 (school groups €2.50). Students: €3.70 on presentation of written proof.
