It is in the magdalenian period that the Men leave their first traces in Sourzac. The 200 engravings in the Gabillou cave bear witness to this. Carved in a sandy limestone maastrichtian and 27 meters long, it is difficult to access with some passages barely fifty to sixty centimeters wide. The vault in some places and the walls are engraved with animal representations: Horses, Bovids, Bisons, Reindeer, Ibexes, Mammoths and Hares as well as 2 human representations: the sorcerer of Gabillou and a woman dressed in a hood. Some stone cups used as lamps in the Paleolithic period were found there.
