Museum located in Besançon, France, housing documents, original objects, photos and texts bearing witness to the rise of Nazism.
After 3 years of closure for a complete metamorphosis, the Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation reopened its doors to the public in September 2023. It is one of the most important museums on this theme, with rare collections, and aims to renew its approach to reinforce its role as a civic tool. It is this dual nature, as a museum of history faithful to its origins, and a civic tool at the service of civic education, that it wishes to embody for the future.

To dip back in a dark our history, but do not forget. Very rich information, beautiful presentation. A part (1st floor) is to be preserved young children.
Museum very well done, interesting, bright, where have can be easily more than 2 hours if you are interested in this part of history. Do not forget to keep time for the rest of the citadel!
