This medieval village is literally perched like an eagle's nest, overlooking its famous black pebble beach and the Mediterranean Sea. Unlike the other villages of Cap Corse, Nonza is not scattered into hamlets, but is one with the rocky peak. On a clear day, you can see the snows of Monte Cintu and even the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. Its narrow streets lead up to the Genoese tower, built in 1970 by Pascal Paoli. This small village celebrates its patron saint, St. Julie, on the weekend of May 22, with a procession in which the statue of the saint is carried to the fountain of the udders, further down the village.
