This town, which Pasquale Paoli decided to develop in 1758 to compete with Calvi, then in Genoese hands, is one of the island's most attractive seaside resorts. Walk along the promenade de la Marinella from Plage Napoléon to the ochre porphyry islands known as La Pietra, where you'll find a lighthouse and Genoese tower. The tip of the town leads to the fishing and commercial port, Corsica's third-largest passenger port. Finally, don't leave without strolling through the pretty shopping streets, just a stone's throw from the beach. You'll notice many Florentine-inspired buildings.
