A commune in the Nebbio region, known since ancient times as Conca d'Oro, Barbaggio is one of the 8 communes that make up the Conca-d'Oro canton. Comprising three hamlets surrounded by mountains and dominated by the Teghime pass, Barbaggio is most famous for the limestone statue-menhir known as Nativu, found in 1964. It is now on display in Patrimonio. In the hamlet of Piazze, the center of the commune, you can visit the church of Saint-Marcel. Built in the 18th century, it boasts a beautiful domed bell tower. Further on, the ruins of the former 11th-century Romanesque church can still be seen, with its well-preserved arches.
