Guarded by two ruined Genoese towers, Orcino and Ancona, Calcatoggio is a peaceful little village built on a hill. The village overlooking the Gulf of Liscia is surrounded by olive trees. You can visit its parish church of the Annunciation and the restored Romanesque chapel of St. Nicholas. Most of the inhabitants were buried here until the Middle Ages. However, the notables preferred the former convent of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, which could be reached after several hours of walking in the forest. Old houses, a pleasant atmosphere of a Corsican village where some holidaymakers take refuge to find peace and quiet ten minutes from the beach.
