A typical mountain village, surrounded by peaks and leaning against a rocky cliff. Its pink granite houses are connected by high stone stairs. The parish church of San Quilicus, remarkable for its circular apse and stone bell tower, can be visited. Of Romanesque origin, it has been rebuilt several times. The village is said to have been built to ward off opponents of the kingdom of Genoa from Balagne, hence the name "Balogna".
