To the south-east of Reims, in the Marne department, Sillery is located in the Paris basin. Here passes the Vesle which crosses the canal from Aisne to Marne by a canal bridge. Sillery is appreciated by boaters because its nautical relay offers a happy alternative to the port of Reims. Quieter, cheaper, a supermarket a stone's throw away, no motorway noise in the surroundings.... And Reims nearby. Among the activities possible along the water on the commune the kayak, the stand up paddle (standing on a board) on the Vesle and the canal. For the anecdote, the wine produced in the town could be the origin of the name of the English dessert, "le syllabub".The Sillery Green Walk is a marked hiking trail of about an hour that goes around the village avoiding traffic areas and using as many pedestrian paths as possibleYou should also know that Sillery houses a huge military cemetery created in 1923 that houses the remains of more than 11,000 soldiers who died in the war in Sillery and in some 20 surrounding municipalities. The town hall keeps the registers with the locations of the graves.Nearby, you can visit the superb Verzenay Lighthouse, an ecomuseum of the vine and a remarkable focal point on the Champagne vineyard
