Étoges is a small wine-producing village in the Côte des Blancs, with nearly 90 hectares of vines, planted with white grapes, chardonnay and pinot meunier. The village was originally a former post office on the road from Paris to Strasbourg. This road was used by the royal family during the flight from Varennes on June 20, 1791. But the king, by prudence, will not pass the gate of the village. The castle of Étoges was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century by the Anglure family, on the basis of a medieval fortress, preserving the moat which is listed, as well as the gate and the façade. The castle now houses a hotel-restaurant
