The church of Saint-Georges from the 12th and 13th centuries dominates the village. While visiting it, you will discover beautiful wrought iron gates dating from 1767 as well as a Virgin and Child by Watteau from 1753. Damery is also the home of Adrienne Lecouvreur, an 18th century tragedienne who is still remembered. Born in 1692, she entered the Comédie-Française at the age of 25 and quickly became the leading actress in Paris. She rubs shoulders with the great world, Richelieu, Voltaire, Maurice de Saxe... and dies prematurely in 1730. Damery keeps his affection for her. As you walk through the streets and alleys of the village, you will notice a plaque that marks her birthplace
