Wassy is a small town of 3,000 inhabitants located in the heart of the Blaise Valley. A city, charming, all in relief and endowed with a rich past. Two inseparable elements of Wasseyan history are to be discovered: the barn of the massacre of March 1, 1562 (where some fifty Protestants were killed and was the spark which triggered the terrible wars of Religion in France) and its link with the melting. The foundry dates back to the viith, when King Childeric II gives the monks the right to build their priory and develop the iron production. Wassy is growing in the courtyard of the centuries, it becomes a royal city in the Middle Ages and surrounds itself with ramparts, a strong castle is built, its church… It will be an important commercial place. After the Revolution, the city became subprefecture of the north of the department, then took a new growth symbolized by various constructions (schools, halle, theater). In addition to its beautiful church, you can see its city hall (with the hall, the very first sculpture of Camille Claudel and an astronomical clock of Pernot), its theater, its hall, the Place Marie Stuart, the former convent of the Capuchin… We've been famous since the xviie, a carnival that will become famous and popular in the nineteenth. This tradition continues since we celebrate again since 1979, the following Sunday Easter.
