Saint-Aquilin takes its name from a hermit, friend and disciple of Saint-Astier who evangelized the region in the 6th century. The village, nestling in the hollow of the valley that opens onto the Salembre, also clings to the hillsides. It is topped by the Château du Roc which dominates beautiful old houses. Its history dates back to the Neolithic period, with the Peyre-Brune dolmen and the many objects found. These can be seen in the Museum of Art and Archaeology of the Périgord. The Romanesque and Gothic church houses a gilded wooden altarpiece and a Chinese bas-relief from the 19th century. The town hall holds the key. To do, beautiful marked walks, on foot or by mountain bike
