La Haute-Marne, we see, is full of natural riches: water, wood, iron ore and sand. These combined elements allowed metallurgical institutions to develop in the region. For 25 centuries, the foundry works and others have made Dommartin known. in 1681, it is a master of the Forges Valley forges who will be responsible for supplying pieces at the Château de Versailles (chimney plates, pipes.). From the th onwards, the metallurgy will not only be utilitarian but artistic. The fonte of art appears and the workshops of Dommartin make it their speciality. Artists flow their works there: The Fontaines fountains, the Ferroneries of Guimard. In summary, the whole history of the cast-up in Haute-Marne is spoken in this village of tradition. The Foundries of the Blaisois began in the th century. See and visit the 1834 blast furnace with an exhibition in summer. Dommartin-le-Franc is the departure of the iron road in the north of the department.
