A long time ago, the village of Razac was called "Ratis", which means "fern" in Gallic. It is therefore likely that Razac means "land of the fern". But, more than this plant, it is for its 14th century castle that it is best known: it was in the hands of the English, like many in the region, during the Hundred Years' War, then taken back by the seneschal of Périgord in 1397. Razac is also the birthplace and deathplace of the poet Lagrange-Chancel who lived there in the castle of Antoniac in the 18th century.
