Small rural town of Sologne, Selles-Saint-Denis was once called Saint-Genouph (or Genoux), then its name was changed to Saint-Denis, then finally for its current name, in tribute to the saint who helped build the village church. In addition to its chapel, which is listed as a historical monument, the little village is known for its good food at the Auberge du Cheval Blanc, which is highly rated in the gastronomic guides.
