This locality was created by the consolidation of two villages whose origin dates back to the Gallo-Romans, St. Lawrence and Nouan-sur-Loire, because located on the river axis of the Loire. For several centuries, many windmills raised the territory, which were gradually destroyed. Some of them still remain active, such as the Moulin Saint-Jacques, located outside the village in the direction of Blois. By good conditions, it is in action on Friday afternoon, where it is even possible to visit it if the presence of a volunteer between 14 am and 15 am allows.
